My Approach to Helping
Hi, my name is Ron Cummings, and I have been a marriage and family therapist for eight years. I decided to become a therapist after being a school teacher for 9 years. During that time, I realized that many of my students were having problems learning due to what they experienced in the outside world. As a result, I obtained an MA in Counseling Psychology in 2013. Since then, I have worked as an MFT intern therapist, working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
I have discovered that life does not always provide us with a smoothly paved road. I experienced two-car crash injuries, death in my family, suffering panic attacks with agoraphobia, being burglarized, beat down, having my car stolen, being unemployed and nearly homeless. I was able to make it through these things due to the support of others and therapy. This is the reason that I am a therapist.
I believe in working collaboratively with my clients on goals they wish to achieve as well as overcoming anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and situational difficulties. I have post-graduate training in EMDR and DBT. I regularly use CBT, solution-focused, client-centered, and EFT for couples.
