My Approach to Helping
ROB MOESTA is a Limited Licensed Psychologist who can practice in the state of Michigan under the supervision of a Fully Licensed Psychologist. My supervisor is Dr. Wendy Thompson PhD. Dr. Wendy Thompson supports this advertisement.
More about ROB: About 50% of my clients are children and adolescents. My personal history of playing sports and bodybuilding usually helps break the ice with those sometimes reluctant adolescent and teens who would rather be doing "something fun" than sitting on a therapy couch. My primary goal is to make you feel comfortable. It is important to me that you get the support and help you need from every session. Sometimes talking things out with someone who actually cares can make all the difference in the world. Once you get to know me you will find that I am easy to talk to, have a sense of humor, and have a very empathic demeanor. My approach begins with assisting my clients to define what their individual goals of therapy are. How can we measure the goal? How will we know when we've reached the objectives necessary to fulfill each goal? Acknowledgement that there is a problem and gaining insight into why you or your loved one is having that problem, is the first valuable step in the therapeutic process. In other words...if your reading this, you've already started! It is from this foundation that we can work together towards problem solving and developing the skills necessary to get your needs met. The application of psychological and behavioral principles can help you to get your needs met in nearly any situation. I'm here to help teach you those principles. In the process you'll learn more about yourself, as well as learning more about how and why people in your life respond to you the way they do. The skills that you will develop, are what I like to refer to as "tools". For example: When a mechanic is faced with the task of replacing an engine in an automobile, he needs all of the tools necessary to complete the job. The same holds true for us, when we are trying to reach our goals and become more effective at getting our needs met. It's much more advantageous to face life's challenges with all of the behavioral skills necessary (A full box of Tools).
