My Approach to Helping
I've helped children, families, adults, and groups face changes, cope with suffering, achieve greater understanding, and aspire to greater connection and fulfillment for over 20 years. I have extensive experience helping my clients manage depression, addiction, anxiety, trauma, chronic mental health problems, relationship conflict, loss, spirituality, and grief.
I embrace an integrative approach, pairing skill-building with insight-based frameworks. I work to help my clients understand the ways their past relationships and experiences affect who and how they are now. I help my clients develop insight about the world, and aid them in cultivating tools to address life challenges. I work with my clients to develop the new skills they need to move their lives in the right direction. This combination of insights and skills helps clients link their past to the present, while aspiring to a better future.
Therapy is not a programmatic undertaking, and what works for one person might be quite different from what works for another. I collaborate with each client to find the most effective and useful combination of approaches.
Though psychotherapy can yield real change and reduce suffering, the process can be difficult and intensive. Realizing the benefits of this work demands that both the therapist and his client have a sense of humor, commitment, courage, and compassion.
I encourage you to contact me to schedule an appointment if you believe such an approach and partnership can be helpful to you.
