My Approach to Helping
Asking for help is sometimes the hardest thing, especially when that 'it' is a traumatic experience. Most people don’t really understand what one feels inside after a trauma (which can be the sudden death of a loved one, witnessing a violent event, or having been physically or sexually abused by another person…even if it took place years ago). People who have experienced such things are constantly asking “why” of themselves, of the event, of the cause - all to no avail. There never seems to be a logical answer to “why," only a nagging sense of self-blame, a negative sense of self, or ongoing emotional pain.
I am Robby Adcock, LCSW, a licensed psychotherapist. I have been helping (since 1999) people who have had traumatic experiences. I have helped these clients with all sources of trauma from the loss of a loved one to military battlefield experiences and every possible thing in between (including domestic violence and sexual trauma).
I offer a relaxed, compassionate and supportive office environment. There is nothing one can say to me that will cause me to be shocked or cause me to judge whatever or however it is being said. Confidentiality and respect are the foundations of my practice. Call and speak with me or come and we’ll talk together. You decide how it feels for you.
