My Approach to Helping
My name is Rhea Lester. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas with over 15 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have extensive experience working with children, adults, and teens with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, school or career challenges, OCD, and ADHD.
My counseling style is client-centered with a holistic approach, treating the cognitive (thoughts) along with the somatic (embodiment) of the person. I work from an eclectic approach, often using more than one approach to combine methods that fit your unique needs. As a psychologist, I use cognitive-behavioral methods like CBT or DBT. I also use trauma methods like EMDR or IFS, which help people deal with their past.
Regardless of the approach, I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part when beginning therapy. This means we will work together every step of the way!
I provide a non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to share. It takes courage to seek help. I want you to know we will work side by side to explore those harder areas that may be preventing you from living a more fulfilled life. I will work with you to create a treatment plan and share resources or homework for between sessions on ways to practice healthier life skills.
