My Approach to Helping
Rooted in Eastern and Western philosophies, my approach is holistic and integrative. I incorporate mindfulness and meditation into sessions to complement traditional psychotherapy modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.
I am a certified yoga teacher through the Abhaya Yoga training program and I received my Reiki certification at Maha Rose. I received a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Arts in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. My postgraduate studies encompassed alternative and integrative healing practices, exploring the connection between mental health, spiritual wellness, physical wellness, and personal growth. I served as a Research Assistant at Columbia University’s Spirit Mind Body Institute, where I worked on studies pertaining to the empirical benefits of Eastern health practices such as mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and Reiki and explored the role of spirituality and consciousness in well-being and life satisfaction.
I provide a warm, caring, non-judgmental psychotherapy relationship where you can be your authentic self. As a licensed psychotherapist, I work with adults around various topics including, but not limited to, mood and behavioral challenges, life dissatisfaction, relationship challenges, feeling stuck, sadness, worry, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, family issues, interpersonal challenges, work and career, physical illness and pain, grief, self-esteem, and more. I approach counseling from a perspective that honors the physical, social, emotional, cultural, gender, sexuality, and interpersonal realities of each client. As a therapist trained in Feminist and Multicultural theories, I value a collaborative space and I believe that you are the expert of your own experience. I am also knowledgable and affirming of diverse relationships, orientations, identities, and family constellations, both mainstream and alternative, including, but not limited to, Polyamory and Consensual Non-Monogamy, LGBTQAI2+, Genderqueer, KinkBDSM, Monogamous, Straight, and committed Allies and family members.
