My Approach to Helping
I use both art and talk therapy to treat adolescents and adults with mood disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, life transitions, LGBTQI+ struggles, and more.
In therapy, I take a person-centered approach and consider the client to be the expert in their own life when identifying issues and developing treatment goals. I practice trauma-informed care and am passionate about harm reduction in regard to substance use treatment.
I earned an MA from Adler University with a focus on counseling and art therapy. My approach draws on Motivational Interviewing, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) modalities. In addition, I use art therapy as a means of expressing and processing emotions that may be difficult to access with words.
