My Approach to Helping
A mother of four adult children, wife of over 42 years, with a varied career history, I love helping people to navigate the difficult questions of life through psychotherapy. I am blessed to be able to witness the change that takes place in my clients as they learn the why of their previous behaviours and thought change that propels them toward their goals. I seriously have the best job in the world and love meeting new clients and creating a plan to help them with their future life.
My practice is based on Christian values and often includes life story work, bibliotherapy (books that teach us important life truths) and early and present attachment styles. I walk alongside my client going as slow or fast as they prefer.
Long-term psychotherapy is available as well as one-off clarification sessions over secure video technology.
More Info About My Practice
While couples counselling is only available in-person in Cairns and Brisbane, Pre-Marriage Preparation and individual counselling are available online through secure video technology.
What Makes up a Problem?
A problem is anything which overwhelms a persons skills, knowledge and resources so that they are not able to function to the best of their abilities to achieve their chosen goals in their daily lives.
I view it as if the client 'borrows' the therapist's skills, knowledge, and resources for a while to learn how to cope in difficult times until they develop their own.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
