To accept that a situation in one's life is difficult to manage, or that an event has turned one's world upside down, can create a lot of heart ache. It takes a leap of faith to admit its time to get some outside help. The first thing I do in our session is create an environment of safety where you have the space to sort out what is happening in your life. Therapy is a time to see what is going on with your emotions, thoughts, and actions. Taking a look at how relationships are unfolding with others, self, and God. Tip, they usually parallel each other. As we work together, in an environment of honesty, compassion, and open-mindedness a direction begins to unfold that has clarity, wisdom, and hope.

More Info About My Practice

For the past 30 years, my passion has been seeking answers to how we can have better relationships. I believe we are social beings that need each other in order to survive and thrive. I have been intrigued by the new developments in the neurosciences, we are learning how the mind works in concert with the body, and spirit. Clients I see come in with various struggles such as trauma, past abuse, addiction, and marital conflict. Such things sever our attachments to others often leading to unsatisfactory relationships and sometimes isolation. I have done work in my own therapy to address attachment problems, it has helped the relationships in my life be much more meaningful and loving.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

It's important you feel safe with me as you share what it's like living your life. Therapy is a relationship where our two worlds meet, you're with a therapist who has his own background. My world view can affect how I see your world, its important we be aware of this. Much of the material shared in therapy is subjective, meaning its not clearly obvious. I seek to understand how events currently or in your past have impacted you. For example, I might ask "How has the abandonment you experienced as a child, affecting your marriage today?" We also explore how new relational wiring can be developed to make today's relationships more meaningful. Bottom line, during this therapy process you are the expert on your life.
