My Approach to Helping

My style is warm, inviting and focused on goals that matter to you. I seek to connect to each person where they are at in life.

I emphasize understanding your unique life story and experiences. This is key to exploring what can be most valuable for you whether is it a change in your life direction or facing a life crisis. I am pro-active in helping you reduce symptoms be they anxiety, panic, or depression by offering solution based tools and practical skills that have been shown to make life more manageable and enjoyable.

I work with people who are ready to give themselves permission to take time to look at their own life experiences, unresolved issues, and stresses that have been pushed off the radar due to external pressures in life and can benefit from the personal focus offered in individual psychotherapy.

Many times we may ask: Who am I beyond the roles assigned by jobs and love relationships? What about that which is uniquely you, the parts that are rarely focused on or given their due? Therapy offers a way to get in touch with your true self, where your heart, wishes, and soulfulness can be discovered and re-discovered for greater vitality and meaning in life.

Guiding people to connect to the deepest parts of themselves, I seek to connect people to their own strengths and gifts and key relationships in your life. While offering tools to cope better with life's stresses and struggles, I assist you in what exploring what is most important for you in your own life dreams, individuality and true self.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

A trusting working relationship is key to success in all walks of life, and particularly in therapy where the client opens up their life story. The therapist must be ready to show respect, empathy and a full appreciation of where the client has been, before engaging on a journey of the next steps forward to something in life that can be more freeing, manageable, and meaningful. The safety and trust of the therapist relationship is key to facing the challenges in the clients world. When one feels one can freely express difficulty feelings, aspirations, dreams, and painful or hidden life events, then true therapy can begin. I work actively on building this trust so that you can know that I am on your side in working on even the most difficult issues you face in life.

At the same time, clients are looking for real understanding, insight, and practical solutions and real tools to their life problems, transitions, crises and future direction. Psychotherapy helps us face difficult life challenges, find hope where little existed, expand choices and options, and make important real life changes beyond superficial one size fits all fixes.
