My Approach to Helping
Life has a way of throwing up roadblocks for us to cross. In these moments, it’s common to feel anxious as you try to figure out what to do. Some of these challenges can become so overwhelming you feel stressed, on-edge, and fearful of what’s to come. If left unchecked, these feelings can intensify and begin to affect all areas of your life. Therapy can give you a way to make sense of your thoughts and emotions and figure out new ways to manage them.
My experience comes from my work with clients struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. I like to provide a space that is open-minded, warm, and safe where you can allow yourself to be vulnerable and truly begin to heal. My role is to help you better understand yourself and learn some useful skills to help you get back in control of your life. I work collaboratively with you to figure out what your personal goals are and how we can make a reality. I use proven therapeutic interventions, like DBT and Motivational interviewing, to help you explore what is driving your emotions, challenge thought processes that are keeping you stuck, and help you learn new coping skills to make the changes you want.
