My Approach to Helping
Life is busy whether it be from school, work, caring for others, or a combination. These alone can feel overwhelming, but COVID stressors can make it that much more difficult. There’s nothing wrong with feeling anxious, angry, or depressed. I believe we have these emotions in order to give us awareness that something needs to change in our lives. As a counselor, I can come along side to help you cope and process root causes of these emotions.
I pride myself in creating a judgement free environment where children, teens and adults can process emotions and thoughts. Being person-centered, I tailor interventions to help each individual.
For teens and adults, this can just be talking, but I also offer activity based interventions, such as expressive arts and sand tray. These interventions help some to feel more comfortable and safe processing a traumatic or stressful experience.
For children, I utilize Child Centered Play Therapy, an evidenced based approach to counseling for ages 4-10.
Finally, I believe integrating spiritual beliefs into counseling is fruitful, and I have training specifically to integrate Christianity into counseling should that be something you are interested in.
