My Approach to Helping
“What’s wrong with me?” “Am I normal?” “How do I change this?” The first step is deciding that you want to make a change. Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, mood swings, behavioral challenges, interpersonal distress, PTSD, suicidal thoughts - there are many challenges life throws at us. In the therapeutic relationship, I strive to find a balance between gentle guide and collaborator while providing structure, psychoeducation, and feedback. Most importantly, I believe in instilling hopefulness and confidence by focusing on my clients’ strengths. In the long run, my goal is to help you overcome your barriers and attain ownership of your life.
In addition to traditional therapy, I specialize in art therapy. I love art therapy because it allows my clients the opportunity to explore and express their inner world through the process of creation and visual expression. Art can serve as a starting point for discussion and profound self-reflection, or simply serve as a holding space and symbol for those who may not be ready or able to verbalize their distress. Best of all, you don’t have to be an artist for art therapy to be effective! I have implemented art therapy very successfully with children and adults alike. Many of my clients have found art therapy to be both an empowering and effective component of their therapeutic journey.
