Perhaps you are suffering with anxiety or perhaps you know there is more to life than you are experiencing right now. I believe therapy begins with the relationship between therapist and client. My sessions are client-centered, culturally sensitive, and relationally based, and incorporate concepts of mindfulness, experiential body-based learning, and co-regulation in order to allow for pieces of my client's whole being to heal and move as they are ready.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
The thought of going to therapy can be overwhelming. Do I really need help in this way? Is there something wrong with me? If you're having these thoughts, you're not alone.
I believe that therapy is effective if you really want to be there. However, this does not mean that wanting to be there can't be accompanied by fear, anxiety, and trepidation about the process. Therapy is something that can assist you with feeling better in various areas of your life. This also means that you may experience being unsure if this is the way for you.
My suggestion is to reach out and talk to a therapist about these fears. Call a therapist and tell them that you aren't sure if you need therapy. Tell them what you'd like to work on and that you aren't sure if this is the way. Listen to what they have to say, and see how it makes you feel. When you want to create change for yourself and want to feel better, only you can make that choice.
