My Approach to Helping

I'm aware of how hard it is to talk about personal problems. You feel vulnerable, confused, embarrassed, afraid, and childlike. You feel stuck at a certain level of understanding and problem solving and can't bounce back. You wish you could talk with someone who won't judge you, but listen deeply and help you recapture hope and meaning in your life and relationships.

I believe I can help. I provide a safe place where you can understand how your feelings and thoughts affect the way you act, react, think, feel, and relate. I am interested in hearing your story with all the twists and turns of your personal history. When you share your story I will listen and give you some feedback so you can learn more about yourself and your partner in a new way. Together we will try to figure out how to resolve your painful conflicts, discover what triggers your emotional reactivity, explore your life's journey more deeply, and if possible, develop some new ways to deal with the past and revision your future.

More Info About My Practice

I became a therapist 30 years ago and over the years have helped individuals and couples from different cultural, gender, and religious backgrounds. My primary orientation is in depth counseling and psychotherapy with persons who struggle with persistent difficulties in their work, marriage, and family relationships. I work with people experiencing difficult life transitions, addictions, anxiety, anger, trauma, affairs, and other issues that constrain emotional connection and personal growth. My therapeutic style is supportive, collaborative, and empathic.
