I believe that every person has all the answers they need to lead a happy and healthy life already present inside them. My job as a therapist is to help clients find their own inner sources of strength, wisdom and nurturing. From my point of view, therapy is a process of healing through reconnection. My role is to facilitate that process. A part of that process is holding clients in unconditional positive regard--seeing the best in them and helping them to see that as well. A second part is providing honest, kind and objective feedback about their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. The final part of my role is to be a guide for their journey of self-discovery--making sure they are safe and don't lose their way.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have years of experience working with both teens and adults to address both general and severe mental health diagnoses. I also have ample experience working with those struggling with addictions and working with clients who have been court ordered into treatment (Drug Court and probation) and dual diagnoses clients. Additionally, I have experience helping clients who are struggling with sexual orientation, gender identity or long-term illnesses like HIV.

My Therapy Focus

I use an eclectic approach to therapy and utilize a variety of techniques depending upon the needs of the client which include: Gestalt, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic, and Existential. Every client has unique issues and needs, and I believe each person deserves to have counseling which is individually tailored (not a one-size-fits-all or cookie-cutter approach). Additionally, I believe that the client is in charge (I'm not the boss of you), and I simply provide guidance and insight. I sit on even ground with clients, not above them as an authority figure dispensing healing (healing comes from inside the client, not from me). At all times I am focused on empowering clients to take charge of their lives and helping them to connect to the wisest and strongest parts of themselves.
