My Approach to Helping

I help couples and parents who find themselves fighting and arguing over the same thing, especially around expectations for themselves and children. Are you struggling and tired of feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities and difficult relationships? You just want to be happy, whatever that means ... Would you like to get past this moment to find new joy? How about just a sense of peace in life and with your family? Are there memories or experiences you would like to forget but keep popping up at weird times or when you don't want them to? We will work together to find strategies and ways to manage the stress of relationships and circumstances that have left you at this place. My therapy style is warm and uses systemic focused therapy to understand what beliefs you have formed about yourself through life experiences and deciding which ones to keep that have helped you. I use proven therapy trauma techniques like EMDR, Gottman therapy for couples and am certified in a parent coaching model proven to lessen depression symptoms. I fully believe clients are capable of finding new ways of thinking and applying therapy skills to create the change they want for themselves. Past experiences don't have to haunt your present moment today. Let's work together to bring you peace and the life you want.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

As a former journalist, one the hardest aspects was hearing people struggling without being able to step in and offer assistance. I love this part of being a therapist, I get the amazing privilege to walk alongside you in your journey and offer different paths and ways of looking at challenges. I enjoy listening to client's struggles with compassion and understanding. This is the recipe for change, a strong therapeutic relationship. I thoroughly enjoy this part of my work.

Groups I Work With

Are you feeling overwhelmed with the responsibilities of life leaving you little energy to meet the demands of relationships? I often work with Moms and Dads that feel burdened by not meeting the expectations of what others want from them, including spouses and children. I help adults rediscover the joy and fulfillment in their relationships to create a harmonious home. Couples often come to me asking to help them find a more effective way of communication with one another. As a certified parenting coach, I love working with all different types of families and greatly enjoy navigating sticky parenting differences of committed couples.

Couples typically come to me saying they are having a very difficult time agreeing and communicating, often confusion leads to fighting and they just want some relief and to be able to talk with each other again. Finding a couple's therapist can be challenging. Research shows the most effective therapy includes a strong trusting relationship with your therapist. I offer a free 15 minute consultation for all couples to identify goals and challenges and make sure we are a good fit for one another.

For individual therapy, many of my clients happen to be folks who identify as female and struggle in our culture where this part of themselves is often challenged. Whether in the work place or finding the mental load of carrying for others to be so heavy, they often feel they don't have time for themselves or struggle with anxiety and depression.
