My Approach to Helping
Patricia Ductan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a passion for helping clients achieve the growth and confidence they desire to tackle and handle life’s problems.
She has a great deal of experience working with children and adolescents, in addition to adults. Her practice has centered on empowering clients to increase agency in decision making and implementing changes that have a long term positive impact. She has worked with a variety of challenges such as couples counseling, relationship/family communication, employment stressors, mental health concerns, academic struggles, and overall adjustments to life changes.
Over the last six years, she has worked in diversified settings such as community mental health, college counseling, care management, and primary care. She employs various therapeutic modalities based on client need, such as CBT, Psychodynamic theory, person centered therapy, Gestalt, and trauma work. Her diverse background has led to increased understanding of different socioeconomic backgrounds and their complexities. She is culturally sensitive and has worked with all regardless of culture, orientation, gender, or identity.
Patricia received an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College and an advanced certificate in addiction studies from Adelphi University.
