My Approach to Helping

Change happens one decision at a time. I am a licensed psychologist located in Wexford. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental, and safe environment for people to explore, learn, and thrive in life. My first meeting with you would involve getting to know your story and your presenting problem. Collaboratively, we discuss and establish concrete goals for therapy and start working on an action plan towards wellness. My approach is tailored to the specific needs of each person. At times, I am direct and provide insight and solutions to the presenting problems; other times, I work with you to discover the best solution to your problems. In general, I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, solution focused therapy, and mindfulness based interventions, all of which are research-based approaches. I firmly believe that with all relationships, guidance and problem solving should always come after understanding, validation, and empathy. Therapy within a Christian framework is provided upon request.

Having a good rapport with your therapist is one of the best predictors of successful outcome. It is difficult to develop a good rapport if you don't know anything about the person. Therefore, I'd like to share with you a little about myself. I've been married for 7 years to my wife who is from Pittsburgh. Although I grew up in New York, since meeting my wife, I have become a Steelers fan. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books on marriage and relationships, watching movies, listening to music, dancing, and playing with my three beautiful daughters.

More Info About My Practice

I work with children (ages 11 and up), adolescents, and adults. The majority of the people I work with deal with one or more of the following issues: depression, anxiety, marital issues, infidelity, relational issues, poor self-esteem, and trauma. My office is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. I accept most insurances, including, but not limited to, Highmark, UPMC, and Health America.
