My Approach to Helping
Coming to therapy is a big step toward health and wellbeing. How we move forward hinges on a shared understanding of what you're wrestling with, what makes you who you are, and how you work best. I work to provide a warm and non-judgmental environment where you can express yourself openly and take whatever risks are necessary for your growth. My role is to bring my knowledge, skill and years in practice to help you achieve a full and rewarding life by overcoming whatever obstacles, internal or external, are standing in the way.
To get the most from this experience, it's important to work with someone that "gets" you and can provide meaningful input. Clients have told me they appreciate my straight-forwardness, sense of humor and willingness to do what it takes to accompany them on their journey of self-discovery and healing.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
Self discovery is an essential ingredient for personal growth and lasting change. It involves anything from recognizing self defeating patterns to delving into the past to work through the roots of your pain. When you're stuck, sometimes it's because reason, emotion and needs are working at cross purposes and need to be considered together in order to move forward.
Self knowledge, though, is only part of the process. Sometimes, your coping skills aren't up for the challenges life has brought your way. I can offer a number of tools for improving your ability to handle difficult circumstances and increasing your emotional intelligence; including strategies for managing overwhelming emotions, more effective interpersonal skills and mindfulness.
