My Approach to Helping
Welcome. I incorporate guided imagery and interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help transform pain, depression, and anxiety into depth, meaning, and creativity. With guided imagery, we build on your strengths, inner hopes, and resiliency - emphasizing that you are already whole and have the inner capacity for joy.
Using interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we work to identify and shift negative thought patterns, uncover and practice new tools for coping with overwhelming emotions, and strengthen skills for communicating needs and boundaries with others to improve and deepen relationships.
Through the lens of CBT, we identify dialects that can pull us in opposing directions, such as, How do we meet the needs of others while still meeting our own needs? How can we be capable but still ask for help when we need it? And, How is it possible to be doing our best but also feel the need to do better?
I have worked successfully with a wide range of clients with issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, suicidality, self-harm behaviors, substance abuse, and eating disorders. I have additional training in CBT that includes completing the Practice-Based Intensive Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Training through the DBT National Certification and Accreditation Association. DBT is a specific type of CBT and I often use interventions from this approach that focus on positive coping and interpersonal skills.
