My Approach to Helping
As a clinician, I work from an eclectic approach based on the needs of the client. I typically use a cognitive behavioral approach, teaching the client how to identify thinking patterns and core beliefs that no longer produce desired outcomes in their lives. My philosophy is \"thoughts become things\" and \"when you change how you look at something, what you look at will change.\" I believe the client is the expert in their own experience, and I am present to guide them to their desired outcome. I approach all clients with respect, empathy, and a nonjudgmental attitude based on a mutual working relationship between myself and my clients. I am open to anyone who needs assistance regardless of race, gender, age, ability, and religion.
In my spare time, I enjoy blogging, gardening, long walks in the sun, playing in the rain, running through sprinklers, reading books by the sea, and singing in the shower. I have a son who likes to conduct science experiments in the kitchen.
More Info About My Practice
I obtained a Bachelor\'s degree in Journalism from Prairie View A&M University and a Master\'s in Counseling from Argosy University. I received my licensed chemical dependency counselor license in 2016 where I worked as a drug and alcohol counselor for three years in the criminal justice system. I worked with men who were first time offenders of a drug crime and were sentenced to long term rehabilitation. I also worked with women with children in an inpatient setting, where I taught them parenting skills in addition to relapse prevention and stress management.
