My Approach to Helping

For oppressed people to intentionally cultivate pleasure is an act of resistance - Ingrid LaFleur

Our intersectional identities affect our distinctive experiences as human beings. As a queer South Asian immigrant woman of color, I specialize in working with kink, poly, queer, and gender non-confirming populations as well as people of color. I also have extensive experience working with people who hold attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) identities, sex-workers, immigrants, and international students.

With me, you'll explore how systemic injustices impact our lives and learn to advocate and empower yourself. My work is grounded in multicultural feminist theory, anti-oppressive ideology, strengths-based and trauma-informed. I use our therapy space as a mini microcosm where you can practice the skills learned in therapy. I specialize in sex therapy, humanistic therapy, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, metallization and interpersonal therapy, and other eclectic approaches tailored to my client's well-being.

More Info About My Practice

I have dedicated much of my professional, academic, and personal life to studying the intersection between the LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalized identities in a counseling capacity. I strongly identify with the LGBTQ+ community as well as the kink community. My intersecting identities offer me the ability to connect with immigrant clients, kink-positive clients, queer clients, or clients who hold identities altogether different than or similar to my own. Through a relational lens, I am able to hold space for clients who are engaging in therapy for the first time due to the collective effects of the pandemic. I empathize with people who come from communities of color, and who have been hesitant about the mental healthcare system before. I understand clients' reservations and I am willing to patiently work with them through building a strong rapport.

Groups I Work With

My clinical identity lies in supporting people who are looking for culturally sensitive, poly and kink-friendly, attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) competent, and sexuality and gender-affirming therapists. My clients hold intersectional marginalized identities and are insightful and willing to acknowledge their challenges and strengths. I provide them with an affirming space to be their authentic selves. They are then able to advocate for themselves and voice their needs.
