My Approach to Helping
I view all people as whole within themselves, though this wholeness is often buried under layers of conditions and beliefs we have learned throughout our lives. My task as a therapist is to help you rediscover yourself. In doing so, I have found that the relationship between the therapist and the client is at the forefront of the work. Research suggests that the most change and improvement with clients has come from trusting and safe therapeutic relationships. It is also often the case that the therapeutic relationship tends to mold into a similar one to others you may have in your life. I am dedicated to building a strong therapeutic relationship with you and using this established trust to guide you to both explore yourself more deeply and unlearn patterns no longer serving you. In addition to the relational component, I will also work with you to build your set of tools so you are better equipped to interact with the world around you and whatever challenges you may face. I strive to draw out the beauty that lies below the surface such that you will feel better and shine brighter.
I have been trained in psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and compassion-focused therapy. I have experience working in outpatient, inpatient, and dual diagnosis settings. In private practice, I treat clients presenting with anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, relationship difficulties, and emotional dysregulation. I also offer ADHD assessments for diagnostic clarity.
I am currently a psychological assistant working under the licensed supervision of Dr. Alique Bedikian, Psy.D. (PSY 31843).
