My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience working with couples and individuals navigating through some of the most difficult and stressful life-changing situations and events. As a registered nurse, I specialized in labor and delivery, became a certified lactation consultant, and worked as an infertility nurse for many years prior to beginning my career as a psychotherapist. Through my own growth, I have come to realize that every person or couple is different in terms of goals, aspirations, and the pursuit of happiness and that everyone’s path to peace of mind is different. In an atmosphere that is non-judgemental, warm, and accepting, I strive to help each person realize their strengths, values, and ultimate potential. My approach to the therapeutic process is a holistic one, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based therapy, acceptance, solution-based therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, family systems, narrative, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, encouraging people to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into their self-care rituals. Each person and couple is unique and, as such, has their own story that needs to be heard in order to learn, achieve their full potential and create goals together that often result in life-changing insights.
