My Approach to Helping
I help People of color learn to communicate their needs, express emotions, and overcome shame that is associated with asking for help. If you feel stuck in old habits, often mistrust others’ motives, and struggle to set boundaries with family and romantic partners, you and I may have a good therapist-client match. I will take into consideration your culture as an important factor to guide our work together. My clients typical get relief from issues such as anxiety and stress, mood changes, relationship and family of origin conflicts, identity and gender issues, as well as life transitions. I also help people who have experienced traumatic life experiences feel safer in their every day lives. I am competent in many trauma informed treatment approaches and trained in EMDR. As a result, I will work collaboratively with you to make a decision on the best approach for your therapy.
