My Approach to Helping
Too often, we wake up one day feeling far away from the person we want or thought we'd be. Maybe you feel anxious, sad or uncertain about your life choices or why things are happening in the way that they are. If you find that this is happening I hope that you will call. My goal is to work with you to better understand the good and difficult and painful feelings, to help you connect more fully with what you want in your life and to develop strategies to live your life to the fullest.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Over the last 17 years I have worked with hundreds of teens, young adults, men, women and families through difficulties in parenting, communication, stress management, motivation, depression, anxiety, worries, life changes after becoming a parent, academic and career struggles and trauma.
Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work
My approach in therapy primarily involves a mix of insight oriented therapy and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). The goal of ACT is to maximize your potential for a rich, full and meaningful life by
teaching you skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings so that they have much less impact and influence over you (these are mindfulness skills) and helping you to clarify what is truly important and meaningful to you "values" to inspire, motivate and guide you to live your life to the fullest.
