I believe in the human potential. We all have what is needed to have a happier and healthier life within us, but sometimes it is hidden deep down. The strengths we have are sometimes buried under so many layers, we even forget that they are there. People come to therapy to change something. They feel the need to change, but they don't know how. My role as a therapist to help you with that. My approach is to support you to activate your own strengths, in your own unique ways, and finding out what to change and how. What you want to change might be within you, in others, or your environment. No matter how big or small it is, the problem lies in the fact that, change is scary. Change means losing what is familiar. Change means unknown. Whether you are experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, having relationship, parenting, or cross-cultural difficulties, dealing with stress or self-esteem issues, trying to make a difficult decision, or having family of origin issues (and the list goes on), it is important to understand yourself better first, in order to change. I will be right there with you as guidance, support and sometimes just a mirror showing you the patterns you follow and choices you make, while you take the first steps towards a more fulfilling life. I am looking forward to meeting you and witnessing your journey of transformation. Are you?

More Info About My Practice

My office is at Lafayette downtown, with free parking and easy freeway and BART access. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about me and my work over a free 15-minute phone consultation. If we determine that I am not a good fit for you, I will gladly provide you with referrals based on your needs and circumstances. My rate is $140 per 50-minute session. I have limited number of sliding scale options that I am able to offer based on your income, which are available for sessions between 10 am to 2 pm during weekdays. I do not accept insurance, however, if your insurance company covers out-of-network providers, I am able to provide you with "Superbill" to be submitted to your insurance company for partial reimbursement.

Besides providing therapy, I facilitate trainings/workshops at agencies mostly in East Bay. I am also available facilitating community building and parenting workshops on variety of topics. Please feel free to contact me to inquire about trainings and workshops.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Being a therapist provides me with the honor of witnessing change and empowerment. My clients and their lives touch me and my life, which in turn makes me a better therapist and a human being over time. I went back to school and changed my career to be able to become a therapist, and I become even more passionate about being a therapist year after year.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

You are the expert, not me. You know (sometimes you don't know that you know!) what is best for you and for your loved ones. Sometimes the work is all about making the unknown known, sometimes it is finding the ways and means to gain clarity and getting unstuck. My work is done when you feel unstuck and able to continue your journey on your own. My work is also done if it becomes clear that you are not benefiting from therapy for any reason. You are coming to therapy investing your time, energy, and money. If you're not experiencing any positive results in a relatively short period of time, then my job becomes making sure either changing the gears, or providing you with the resources and referrals to try something different.
