"Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued, and when they can give and receive without judgement" - Brene Brown PhD

This quote by renowned writer and social worker, Brene Brown, beautifully illustrates my commitment to creating a safe atmosphere where people feel supported and validated to openly explore their life experiences. I believe that building a genuine connection is the foundation to therapy. An empathetic connection allows me to help adults as well as youth navigate obstacles, stressors, transitions, and traumas to achieve the growth, healing, and change they sincerely deserve.

As a therapist, I practice a person-centered approach and apply a range of techniques including verbal therapy, CBT, mindfulness, expressive arts therapy, and play therapy depending on a person's needs and preferences. I also believe that the connection I build with people allows them to feel more grounded, self-aware, and able to have deeper and more meaningful relationships with themselves and other people in their lives.

Choosing a therapist for yourself or for your child can be challenging, especially if current circumstances leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disheartened. My hope is that our work together will allow you to feel emotional relief from these difficulties.

More Info About My Practice

An integral part of my treatment approach is utilizing Expressive Arts Therapies such as visual art, writing, and guided imageries into therapy sessions. The Expressive Arts allow people to explore feelings, thoughts, and situations that are often difficult to put into words. The "art" creates some distance between the person and their struggles and allows for greater clarity and a broadening of one's perspective. I enjoy providing people a creative outlet for problem-solving, self-understanding, stress reduction, and to coping skills development.

I'd like to note that I currently accept the following insurance plans: BCBS and Tufts. In addition I have private pay options and will certainly discuss a sliding scale fee based on individual needs. Please contact me today for a free phone consult so we can explore how we can collaborate on your personal journey.

Groups I Work With

There are several specialty areas I would like to highlight:

I offer several types of family therapy sessions for children ages 0-5 years old. These sessions are very playful in nature and the emphasis is to strengthen the bond of attachment between parent and child. For children ages 0-3 it is often related to Post Partum Anxiety/Depression and helping parents work on alleviating stressors and enjoying time with their baby.

I also have extensive experience working with adults survivors of childhood abuse. Adults who have experienced trauma in childhood often struggle with forming healthy relationships as adults. I often utilize the expressive arts to explore ways of repairing the bonds of attachment.

I do provide family group therapy:

Express your HeART is a creative play program that uses art materials
to allow young child and their parents to join together in the art
    making process.

Mindful Play is a group for parents to work with their child ages 6-9 to learn skills to reduce stress, anxiety and angry outbursts. This group will incorporate the expressive arts, mindfulness techniques, and cognitive behavioral therapy in a playful way to engage parents and children to learn coping skills that can be utilized at home.
