What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
What I love about being a psychotherapist is the intimacy between the client or the couple and me. I like to put myself in my clients shoes and try to see the events that the client's are talking about through their eyes. I like to become part of them and help them to come up with more functional ideas that can move them on. I become an echo to their frustrations, pains, disappointments, misery and open for them a door to a better and more realistic and optimistic view of the future.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
When we choose a therapist we should learn about the areas the therapist is dealing with and we have to choose a therapist that is knowledgeable to the specific area that is concerning us. We have to examine if the personality of the therapist fits with our personality and it is not going to be a conflict in understanding one another. The therapist should be warm, caring, non-judgmental and very empathetic. Last but not least, it is important to find a therapist that we can spill our guts in front of him/her without any hesitation or embarrassment.
