My Approach to Helping
Hello, oi, bonjour, hola, kumusta, and welcome. You've already taken the hardest step toward yours and-or your child's healing. My first hope is for you to find a therapist whom you feel is a good fit. My mission is to provide trauma-sensitive, culturally, and developmentally appropriate treatment, where I partner with my clients. I believe that therapy itself is a learning process, and that everyone has a different learning style. Because of this, my training and expertise is in a variety of treatment approaches, one that is eclectic. What brings you and comes up in the counseling space is a process that I'm dedicated to.
I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a designated Child Mental Health Specialist, and a Registered Dance-Movement Therapist. In sessions, we use a combination of play, creative expression, mindfulness and meditation skills training, evidence-based behavioral therapies of CBT, DBT, and CETA.
I've worked in community mental health centers and in K-12 school settings across the U.S. since 2013. I also spent time living in Ireland, where I served on the executive board of the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists. I have extensive experience providing therapy for children, adolescents, families, adults, and Elders.
I hold my primary degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis, a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and a Master's in Design for Human Health from the Boston Architectural College. My most recent achievement in higher education allows for an additional specialization in the design of health focused environments.
