My Approach to Helping
Morgan Dominguez is a psychotherapist with a broad client base with experience providing therapy in both individual and group settings. She has worked with individual adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties.
By taking a multicultural approach, she establishes an individualized treatment plan that tends to the needs of that specific individual. Morgan brings empathy, enthusiasm, and humor to sessions which she thinks has a positive influence on the therapeutic relationship. Morgan’s theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with components deriving from her experience in Motivational Interviewing and Functional Family Therapy. Morgan believes it is critical to have a strength-based approach while working collaboratively with the client to ensure effectiveness of treatment.
In her prior experience, Morgan provided therapeutic services within the home, to treat families struggling with parenting, problem solving, communication, and emotional regulation. She has also spent time treating those with histories of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and survivors of intimate partner violence. In addition, she has worked with the high-risk population due to the nature of various criminal activities and mental health concerns.
In the past, she has co-facilitated a Men’s Domestic Violence/Anger Management group, a Women’s Domestic Violence/Anger Management group, and a Children’s Domestic Violence Exposure group to provide safe alternatives to violence. She has also co-facilitated a Women’s Domestic Violence Survivors/Pattern Changing group. Morgan has worked with clients to help facilitate awareness and insight into their thinking patterns, and by providing perspective of how personal accountability can foster positive change.
Morgan Dominguez earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology specialized in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Hawai’i at Hilo. Morgan received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami.
