My Approach to Helping
Do you feel like you’re stuck in incessant ruts in your head? Do you feel like you have little control over your emotions? Has stress got you feeling like there is no way to cope? I work with clients who have answered yes to these questions and more. It is never easy to acknowledge that you need help in managing these difficult moments, but you should be proud of the courage and bravery that it took to visit this webpage. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults struggling with life’s many complexities and the stress, depression, and anxiety that accompanies them. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over nine years of professional training in psychodynamic therapy who uses a warm and empathic sensibility to help you reach your goals. I typically use elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), psychoanalysis, and mindfulness-based therapies in my work. I am, also, am happy to coordinate with your prescribing provider if needed.
In addition to my comprehensive work with adults, I use my background of working with the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and my training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to work with adolescents in overcoming trauma. My practice has included years of working with young people who have experienced a variety of traumas including, but not limited to, sexual abuse, physical abuse, community-based violence, and bullying. EMDR is a special kind of treatment that combines neuroscience with typical psychotherapy. It has been proven to have a profound impact on reducing symptoms of trauma within a shorter time-span than traditional psychotherapy.
While I have a variety of interventions and modalities in my toolbox, the greatest part about therapy is that it is a symbiotic relationship. I am here to help you address whatever it is you feel needs work. My goal is to create a safe and trusting collaborative relationship where peace and contentment can prosper.
