How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I am not a person who has learned everything just from reading a textbook. My own life's struggles have led me to where I am today, and I believe that being a therapist is my life's purpose. I've experienced grief and loss, trauma, abuse, and overwhelm and I've learned to use those experiences to improve my resiliency and strength. I believe that there are a few different types of therapists in the world--those that learn about mental health during their graduate program and then attempt to understand clients from a firsthand perspective based on that textbook, and those like me, who have been through it, used those experiences as motivation to make a difference in the world, and found a way to combine life experience with formal education in order to become great therapists. I believe that if I can overcome the difficulties I've been faced with in my life, you can do it too. I want to help be your support on your journey through it as you develop into your most resilient, strong, amazing self.
