Metairie is an unincorporated community in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It is the most populated community in Jefferson Parish and one of the largest unincorporated communities in the nation. Metairie is located on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The community encompasses a land area of 23 square miles.
