My Approach to Helping
Hello. My name is Shelly. I counsel couples and individuals who are adolescents to seniors. Maybe you’re a couple, wondering, “Is this relationship worth it?” and desire to learn communication and coping strategies to rebuild, strengthen, or leave a relationship. Perhaps you’re an individual, asking, "Why do my emotions control me rather than me controlling my emotions?" Maybe you have trouble knowing what you feel, but do know that you feel alone, empty, or numb. I help couples and individuals with depressive, anxiety and or trauma-related symptoms (flashbacks, nightmares, indecisiveness) relate to themselves and others better.
I strive to create a safe space to work collaboratively with couples and individuals to reach their unique goals. I use a trauma-informed, eclectic approach, including empirical interventions (CBT, DBT, and solution-focused) and mindfulness methods (self-compassion, meditation, breathing techniques, and trauma-informed yoga).
You're invited to be curious about your relationship with yourself and others as you work toward balance and wholeness. I offer inclusive space, both telehealth and onsite, for people of all sexual orientations and identity, race, religion, and culture to explore personal issues and feel empowered to make decisions. Feel free to reach out when you're ready.
