My Approach to Helping

It's time - now is the time to resolve your stress, anxiety, depression, relationship distress, grief, past trauma, or pain so that you can move forward into the next beautiful chapter of your life! You can develop better insight into your emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and past, combined with practical tools to help you meet everyday challenges. I offer a collaborative, individualized approach to helping you "unstick" through your story. We'll use highly effective approaches such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) (Master Clinician), and more to help you progress and meet your goals.

Grief and loss are two of my specialties, and it would be my privilege to help you do the hard work of grief well. My extensive background in Hospice bereavement has prepared me to be a compassionate witness, seeing you through life after the death of a loved one, divorce, relocation, or job loss.

I also provide pre-marital counseling, and it's my joy to help you know each other better before you tie the knot - moving towards a healthy, happy marriage for many years to come!

If you're looking for spiritual support (either integrated into our regular sessions, or as a primary focus), you've come to the right place. I am a Commissioned Pastoral Counselor in addition to my status as a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I have worked with a number of church leaders, pastors, and other clients who view life through a spiritual lens.

More Info About My Practice

While I don't accept insurance (and there may be great reasons why to avoid using it for counseling), I do offer a sliding scale as needed, as well as a receipt for reimbursement to your insurance company. Call or email and we can talk about your options - don't let the cost of therapy prevent you from getting the experienced, trustworthy help you desire!

My Role as a Therapist

Clients respond well to my warmth, positive attitude, knowledge and therapeutic humor, and it would be my privilege to walk this journey with you! My goal is to become an ally in the process of understanding and change, to educate, and to listen, all in a trusted environment. Reach out today ... I would love to talk with you about how I may help!

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Therapy is a highly collaborative process. I always tell my clients that they are they are the experts on their own lives; I am present to walk alongside you, to encourage you, to ask good questions, and to help you develop insight and change based on my training. At the first session, we'll talk about how often you would like to come to therapy, and I will provide my recommendations. I am a great respecter of both budgets and schedules, and will work with you to make your sessions as effective as possible! Many people are also concerned that therapy needs to go on forever - and that's not necessarily the case. We can decide mutually when you are ready to "fly free" from counseling, ready to implement your changes and move forward with your life.
