My Approach to Helping
Welcome Aetna, Anthem and Tricare Members! Saturday Appointments are now available! Making the decision to engage in counseling can be intimidating or even considered a last resort. Individuals are typically at their most vulnerable. Therefore, it is critical that the counselor you choose will know how to support you during this journey. At ARTISAN Counseling we operate under a very special premise...
"People don't care what you know until they know that you care" -Theodore Roosevelt.
You are the expert on your life, and as counselors, we are committed to understanding your life, your goals and supporting you to make healthy congruent life choices.
More Info About My Practice
How will I support you on your journey? Picture 3 concentric circles (like a dart board), with the innermost (and smallest) being your COMFORT ZONE. This is where we often get stuck and have limited growth. The outer most circle is your PANIC ZONE. Here we often experience the feelings of 'fight, flight or freeze.' These feelings limit our ability to see other possibilities that aren'?t scary and overwhelming. The work we will do is in the middle circle we call your LEARNING ZONE, this is often the forgotten Zone. Getting comfortable and exploring the Learning Zone will be our goal. In this Zone, I will support you to explore and expand your comfort zone to allow you to get unstuck in your thinking, behaviors, relationships, job or whatever has brought you to counseling so that you can live your best life.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
It is time to embrace your humanity! You do not have to do it alone. I have accepted myself as perfectly flawed and that self-acceptance has taken much weight off my life. As a therapist, I have learned that there is no judgment! We are all just doing the best we can to make it through situations. We have all had childhood, family, relationship, financial and employment issues. We have all felt anger, frustration, and fear. It is through these lows in our life that we can develop an appreciation for the good times. "Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared." Buddha
