Hello! I'm glad you've found me. I know the idea of seeking help through therapy can be daunting and overwhelming. I take a more relaxed and understanding approach towards the person in my practice as a counselor. I strive to help people feel understood, I seek connection with you, and I'm interested in helping you feel cared for versus trying to find a quick fix for your solutions (unless you're looking for a quick fix that's fine too!). My philosophy is, essentially, to try and provide you with a sense of hope, direction, meaning, and purpose in life. I hope this speaks to you and I would love the honor and privilege of meeting you and walking through part of your life's journey with you.

More Info About My Practice

I have been practicing therapy for over 13+ years and have extensive experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults with a multitude of problems and struggles. I was as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky's Dept. of Psychiatry and have much more experience in the mental health field prior to my work at UK. I feel this was a tremendous privilege to work in that setting and it has deeply enriched my counseling skills. Combining my philosophy/approach with my work at UK I'm proud to say I can provide excellent services for your particular needs. Most importantly, I hope these facts will help you feel more at ease about seeking help from me.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

I strongly believe in making the therapy process collaborative more than anything. Frequency of appointments, topics discussed, how deep the person wants to go (i.e. past vs. present), and even my different therapeutic approaches are all discussed and agreed upon collaboratively.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

I actually believe going to therapy means you are quite brave and I can't help but respect a person's choice to seek help. It takes humility and vulnerability to search for answers and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
