My Approach to Helping

I specialize in sensitive and compassionate therapy created to meet the needs of people using a variety of therapeutic approaches that are most comfortable for that individual. Optimism and humor are essential facets of therapy. Focus should be on the essential problems of each person, understanding the most significant conflicts, and helping them understand how they interpret those issues and how they impact the quality of their life. Ultimately, the goal is to help people re-evaluate those issues to limit the stress and pain being experienced. I would hope my experience will help you navigate these emotional issues more successfully.

My office environment is comfortable, and my primary concern is with your needs. I work most effectively with issues of anxiety, depression, bipolarity, phobia, and self-esteem. Additionally, I offer psychological evaluations to augment therapy and my understanding of the patient's socialemotional problems.

More Info About My Practice

I employ psychological evaluation in forensic environments concerning criminal, domestic, and immigration issues. I have likewise testified as an expert witness in federal and state courts for criminal and domestic issues. I have been practicing for more than 35 years and have conducted psychological evaluations on more than 15,000 patients. I endeavor as best I can to integrate the knowledge gained from the psychological evaluation together with the general therapeutic process andor employ that knowledge in court related situations to resolve legal issues.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is designed to enable the patient to gain insight into the nature of the frustrations, blockages and conflicts which are inhibiting emotional and social growth as they progress towards a healthier emotional state. It is the therapist?s job to be an active facilitator in this process by providing a safe, nurturing and accepting atmosphere for people to achieve these goals. It is important to understand that therapy is an active therapeutic conversation which engages the patient to delve into their issues with therapeutic guidance. I have never viewed the process of therapy as a monologue to be provided by the patient with the therapist simply nodding his head or adding only a word or two. It is the energy of the therapeutic conversation which stimulates the patient to grow and develop emotionally and socially.
