My Approach to Helping
Mengyu believes people have all the resources they need inside themselves to face difficulties in life and make positive changes. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is the key and foundation for effective treatment. In therapy, she provides genuine care, empathy, and a safe, supportive environment to work with clients collaboratively. Mengyu guides clients in self-exploration and assists in development of various adaptive coping skills in order to reach clients’ individualized goals and to improve their well-being.
Mengyu has several years of work experience as an outpatient mental health therapist in providing individual psychotherapies for children, adolescents, and adults with depression, anxiety, adjustment, and attachment issues. Her training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Theraplay, SBIRT, Mindfulness, and Hypnosis. Mengyu uses an integrated treatment approach with a focus on CBT. Mengyu also speaks Chinese (Mandarin, Shanghainese, and Cantonese).
