My Approach to Helping
I meet clients where they are in their particular journey. I honor the uniqueness of each individual, listen, and identify areas of focus, such as relationships, self-esteem, communication, mood regulation, stress management, etc. I provide a safe and compassionate space to attend to emotional wounds and work with individuals on healing, acceptance, and letting go. I work with clients on identifying natural resources for coping with pain, stress, etc. I also teach helpful strategies/tools to enhance resiliency, strength, and groundedness.
I am well versed with trauma-informed practices which are based on neuroscience and include identifying maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors that at some point were adaptive; however, in the present moment no longer serve an individual, as the context of the individual's life has likely changed.
I find that what is most important in therapy, however, is the dynamic relationship an individual has with his or her therapist. Clients have described my work as genuine, transparent, and transformational.
