My Approach to Helping

Life can be incredibly hard at times. We can't control or change what has happened to us, what we needed but didn't get, or how isolating and confusing things can be. Sometimes we don't understand why we feel the way we do, how people interact with us, our reactions, or what to do next. We don't have to keep repeating the same patterns or relating to ourselves and others in the same ways. I believe that lasting change and healing are possible even though this might feel impossible right now.

I utilize a trauma-informed integrative approach that includes psychodynamic, attachment, mindfulness, somatic, and relational foundations, among others, which means that I use, and incorporate, different resources depending on what’s needed and when. What stays the same is that it’s always all about the therapeutic relationship, listening carefully, and providing a safe non-judgmental space. Reflecting on our behaviors, thought patterns, and life experiences can be incredibly difficult, and I’m committed to supporting you through that process.

More Info About My Practice

I have an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I also have an MS in Biological and Physical Sciences, and a PhD in Microbiology. I draw from this experience and training, highlighting the mind-body connection when useful, which can be beneficial in working with somatic effects of trauma, physical symptoms and illnesses, STIs, and many of our other layered experiences that come with having bodies. My practice is sex-positive, weight neutral, and queer- and gender-affirming.
