My Approach to Helping
My approach is collaborative, compassionate and I highlight my clients' strengths and internal resources. My professional strengths include knowledge, integration, and application of interdisciplinary, diverse, and multicultural viewpoints. My priority is to provide you with a confidential and supportive environment.
My background is in integrative and humanistic psychotherapies. I incorporate psychological, cultural, social, physical, existential, and spiritual perspectives in my work and I draw from a variety of therapeutic orientations depending on the issues you would like to work on. I believe in the importance of establishing an honest, safe, and genuine therapeutic relationship and using that relationship to foster change and increased self-awareness. I believe that competent and caring psychotherapy requires safety, support, trust, care, compassion, and direction. Thus, the values and principles that guide my work are: presence, authenticity, transparency, autonomy, and care. My sessions are guided by your goals, concerns, and your readiness to make changes.
More Info About My Practice
Trauma and loss are dys-regulating. I enjoy providing the support to help ease a deep sense of isolation we often feel in those situations. I have extensively worked with trauma and both death related and non death related losses and grief. I am a Fellow in Thanatology: Death Education and Counseling and I am passionate about working with people who are dying and with those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. I also have a Master's degree in Bioethics and I have integrated my learnings in this field to be better serve the individuals I work with.
My Role as a Therapist
I work with clients to access their inner resources to heal, manage emotions, and change unproductive thinking patterns. I work on creating a safe and comfortable environment for you to freely express yourself and feel understood and validated. I would like to learn about your unique self, life situations, past and present experiences so that I can tailor our sessions according to your specific issues and needs. I focus on your strengths, values, and resources and provide a safe and healing space in which self-exploration, growth, and change can take place.
