My Approach to Helping
Welcome to my practice! My approach is collaborative, empowering, and accepting in order to create a non-judgmental space for where we can explore the problem that brought you to therapy. Individual therapy is used to increase self-awareness, minimize distress and enhance quality of life. Together, we will work to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships as well as establish meaningful and lasting change.
I was trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and I believe that our past experiences impact our current experiences and relationships. We will work to increase insight into these connections and into patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These insights can allow you to make more well-informed decisions to improve you life and reach your goals. In addition to increased self-awareness, I take an active role in assisting clients to develop coping skills based on their strengths and to establish new behaviors that may improve their quality of life.
I work with adults and college-aged individuals who come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Some are experiencing relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, struggling with life transitions, exploring their identity, or struggling with anxiety or depression. I welcome individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
