My Approach to Helping
Life can be tough and it can feel like you may never catch a break. In times like this it may be hard to remember that although life may be tough, so are you. Feelings of anxiety, depression, and dealing with life experiences can turn us away from the undiscovered inner strength we all have in times when we need it most. Meaningful work with a counselor is done in a safe, non-judgmental space—all starting with a connection between two people. I like to ‘meet my clients where they are’ so I can have an understanding of what you’re going through when we meet. This is a journey that we will take together in which you will not only gain the skills to face life’s heavy hands but to also experience personal growth and rediscovery. I am a firm believer in self-empowerment and the importance of looking inward for the answers we may already have and need help uncovering. After all, as Oprah Winfrey said, “it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from; the ability to triumph begins with you—always."
I like to use an eclectic approach to therapy with a large focus on strength-based interventions and person-centered therapy. In drawing inspiration for treatment from various models, I am able to work with you compassionately and in a way that will work best for you. I view each person as unique and I understand that stressors come in all shapes and sizes that require different tools and methods of coping. I strongly believe in the mind and body connection and will use a holistic approach in order to reach for wellness in all areas of your life. My overall goal during our work together is to provide the tools to help you manage life’s stressors effectively and reconnect with the strength that is within you.
