My Approach to Helping
Accepting new clients, and thank you for reading my profile. I work with adults in the areas of life transition, anxiety, and depression. My areas of focus are parental and caregiver stress, aging, and high functioning adult autism. I work with adults with chronic medical conditions and disabilities. I also help people who have family members with severe mental illness. I can help you identify your values, create measurable goals based on those values, and live a life that is more meaningful to you. We did not create all of our problems, but we have to solve them anyway.
My approach is strengths-based. I balance teaching new coping skills to deal with the day-to-day, while exploring and identifying deeper reasons for behaviors. I use evidence-based practices including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Before private practice, I worked in social services for 20 yrs. I’ve been a fully licensed therapist since 2008 and worked in a variety of settings including homes, schools, and clinics. I try to practice the skills I teach in my own life and believe that we are doing the best best we can with the skills we have. Some evening appointments available.
