My Approach to Helping

A satisfying connection with the important people in our lives is so important to our well-being. Sometimes, however, signals get crossed, communication goes off track, and we can feel isolated, scared and alone. It is not always easy to manage our own emotions, and the resulting anxiety and depression can impact our relationships in ways that don't feel good. While we all have normal fluctuations in our moods, it's nice to have some tools to better cope and to soothe ourselves when we start feeling out of control of our feelings. I love helping people find the balance between accepting what they may not be able to change and identifying ways of improving upon things that are in their control.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

It is so crucial! In fact, I see the client-therapist relationship as one of the most important building blocks of successful therapy. When there's a good "fit" between the client and therapist, this provides the space for the client to feel safe in the room and able to take chances with more fully exploring him/herself. I love it when a client shares with me that they feel a lack of judgment on my part, thereby giving them freedom to truly be themselves.
