My strength as a therapist is the ability to listen and understand deeply and to provide a compassionate presence which helps you see yourself more clearly. Psychotherapy provides a safe space for learning to connect to the full range of your experience, especially those parts you may dislike or that make you feel uncomfortable, ashamed or vulnerable. The psychotherapy relationship supports the process of acknowledging and working through feelings and is useful in addressing issues such as addictive and compulsive behavior, identity struggles, anxiety and depression. Because each person is unique, there can be no set formula for helping people find solutions and pursue their goals. As a therapist I focus on the particular problems presented, explored in a direct, supportive, and interactive manner, and always from an empathic perspective. It is only when we can be sufficiently intimate with ourselves that we can be comfortable with others.

More Info About My Practice

Psychotherapy is a path of self-discovery that is unique for each individual, co-created in the therapeutic relationship. My clinical approach, which I call Inquiring Deeply is mindfulness-informed, relational, and psychodynamic. The central focus is exploring relationships -- how we relate to other people, to ourselves, and to life. These patterns reflect our attachment experiences, our early emotional wounds, and our core beliefs about ourselves and others. Mindful investigation of our problems helps us see how we getting in our own way.
I have extensive practice in teaching psychotherapy and have been trained as a meditation teacher.
My book about mindfulness and psychotherapy, INQUIRING DEEPLY, was published by Routledge Press in January 2017.
