My Approach to Helping
I am a social worker/executive coach with thirty years of experience in helping individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing challenges with their emotions, in life situations, relationships, families, or in their careers, or who just feel "stuck" in unhealthy behaviors or patterns which they cannot seem to change by themselves. Life is too short and too precious to waste it being unhappy, whether the unhappiness is caused by unresolved issues from the past, unhealthy behaviors, or addictions. I believe that it is in relationships that healing takes place; and that therapy and coaching both work through a combination of skill-building, problem-solving, and through the power of a model of healthy relationship with the therapist/coach. In my life/executive coaching work, I also work on building skills and developing effective strategies for more successful relationships; with oneself, through better work/life balance; with peers, managers, and hires; and with colleagues and team members. I am particularly skilled in building emotional intelligence, working with complicated systems, and with building effective teams.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I believe the principles of systems theory provide an excellent model for both effective family therapy and systems-related problems in the workplace. I believe that my years of experience in working with families around issues of communication render me particularly able to help individuals, couples, family members, and members of organizations/businesses to maximize their effectiveness, achieve better productivity, and result in increased satisfaction and sense of well-being.
I have twenty years of experience in the treatment of eating disorders and body image issues. In our culture today, eating disorders and body-image difficulties have become an epidemic; both men and women have been harmed by the \"culture of thinness\" that prevails; binge-eating disorder, anorexia nervosa, and bulimia are all by-products of the same malaise in our society: the pursuit of perfection and the self-hatred that results from it. I provide a safe, empathic environment and the latest in evidence-based techniques; as well as a team-based approach to optimize the chances for a complete recovery.
